Daily Inspiration: New Year's Reflections 5

Proverbs 13:6

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. (NLT)

Thought for Today

History is filled with the stories of men and women who lost hope and gave up too soon. Conversely, many of the most inspiring tales are of those who endured incredible trials by holding onto hope. The key is to fix your hopes upon something that is certain. If you fix hope on something fleeting; the love of another person; a promotion; and the like; they will often fail when you need them most. However, in God we find things that are certain. His love for you is without question. His promises to provide for you are sure. He is working out a plan through your life that will bring Him glory. He guarantees you a home in His presence in heaven. When you place your hope in these things you will see your dreams fulfilled and, even in the most difficult circumstances, it will be for you a tree of life. On what are you placing your hope today?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, today I place my hope in You and Your promises. Use me to Your glory and help me see Your promises fulfilled in my life. Amen.

Too often I have only stop at the first part of this verse and thought, ‘Yep, I’m sick!’ ... but a dream fulfilled IS the tree of life! .... Great News for 2020!

Daily Inspiration: New Year's Reflections 4

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Thought for Today

The new year is a time when we map out the year ahead. We place significant events on important dates. We lay plans for our vacations and catalog all of the school events. In truth, each event we write is a hope for the future. We do not truly know what the year holds, so we do our best to set our hopes in place on our calendar. The wonderful news at the beginning the year is that God does have plans for our year and knows exactly what the future holds. We know that we can trust Him, and no matter what the future holds, He has promised to be there with us when it comes to pass.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You know all of my days and my times are in Your hand. Help me to move forward in this year with eager anticipation of what we will encounter together.

Devotional Quote

Trust in God’s timing. It’s better to wait a while and have things fall into place than to rush and have things fall apart — Adam Cappa

Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite Bible verses. It's comforting to know that God knows what's in my future and will be there, no matter what.

Daily Inspiration: New Year's Reflections 3

2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed. . . (ESV)

Thought for Today

When was the last you made a genuinely new New Year’s resolution? Have you ever wondered why we make the same resolutions each year? The reason is because we know in our spirit who we are supposed to be. We have a longing to become the person God created us to be. So we take the opportunity each new year affords to resolve to be that person. Whether it is to be physically, mentally or spiritually fit, we continually resolve to be more of we know we need in our lives. So don’t get discourage if you haven’t fulfilled last year’s resolutions and put them back on your list. If it is who God is calling you to be, keep at it. It is the only way to become all that you were created to be!

Prayer

Holy Spirit, I know who You are calling me to be. Give me the strength and determination to grow more into that person in 2020. Amen.

Devotional Quote

I have never heard anything about the resolutions of the apostles, but a good deal about their acts. — Og Mandino
