Daily Inspiration: Chosen by God 4

Romans 5: 10

For if, while wewere God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life”

Thought for Today

Part of the real crime of “Prosperity Gospel” preachers is they make actual Christians feel guilty for thinking that God wants to bless them. Scripture teaches us that while we were “God’s enemies” Jesus willingly died on the cross to stop the hostility between humanity and God. If God is willing to suffer and die to make you His child, how much more will He bless you once you are His child again? The Apostle Paul declares, “more than all we can ever ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20). We shouldn’t feel guilty for believing what God has consistently said. The difference is that we know that God gets to choose what that blessing looks like in this life.

Prayer

Lord God, You amaze me. You saw me behaving like your enemy and Your response was to love me. Thank You for Your love that surpasses my understanding. Help me to live life confident of the blessings You have prepared for Your friends, among whom I am counted. Amen.

We should pray to see God’s light, not for God to see our light, he already knows what that is. I’m guilty of praying more when times are hard and less when times are good and I’m working everyday to change that! Looking forward to studying more Romans on Mondays.

Daily Inspiration: Chosen by God 3

Romans 5: 8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Thought for Today

The reason that Jesus came was so that people who were utterly unworthy of God could be made worthy. Many people believe that God chooses people based on their performance. However, today’s verse tells us that God looked at you at your very worst moment, and seeing you in that moment was so in love with you that He sent His Son, Jesus, to make you worthy and calling you to Himself. You don’t have to do anything to earn God’s love. The cross is proof of God’s incredible love for you. All we can do is thank, praise and serve Him in response to His great love for us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for making me worthy of Your love and calling. Help me to grow daily into the person that You called me to be. Amen.

Devotional Quote for Today

“Fear and shame are now, indeed, powerless by the cross of Jesus Christ. Our only proper response is one of praise back to our Redeemer.” – Matt Conner

Daily Inspiration: Chosen by God 2

John 15: 16

Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last…”

Thought for Today

Like the first disciples of Jesus, He called you, saying to your heart, “Come, follow me.” How wonderful to know that you need never fear that Jesus will one day look back and ask, “What are you doing here?” and send you away. You are following Jesus because He first chose you. And He has a purpose for you. There is fruit He is preparing you to bear that will bring the sweetness of His love to the world. Live today in the confidence that you belong to Jesus and the things that happen today are bringing His fruit into the world.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Thank you for calling me to follow you and allowing my heart to respond to Your call. Help me to bear the fruit of Your love to the world around me. Amen.
