Daily Inspiration: A Mind Aligned 5

Isaiah 55:9

As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Thought for Today

The path our lives take seems like a winding road as we live it. Then we look back and discover that God was moving us in straight lines toward the people and the places where His blessings were prepared for us. God sees a bigger picture that we ever can. His plans seem confusing at times because we do not know all of the things that God knows. If we did we would choose for ourselves the same path He has laid out. Armed with this knowledge we can trust Him each day with the path ahead.

Prayer

Holy Father, I confess that there are times when life seems out of control and I wonder about Your plan. I know that Your wisdom and understanding are far beyond mine. Help me to trust You at all times and rest in knowing that Your plan is based on Your perfect understanding of every detail of my situation. Amen.

Devotional Quote for Today

“If God would concede me His omnipotence for 24 hours, you would see how many changes I would make in the world. But if He gave me His wisdom too, I would leave things as they are. J.M.L. Monsabre

Daily Inspiration: A Mind Aligned 4

Psalm 94:19

When doubts filled my mind,

Your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.

Thought for Today

We all struggle with doubts. We have doubts about ourselves, our relationships, and our stability. Doubts about God are common as well. Many people feel guilty about having questions they cannot answer or promises they struggle to trust. This is a part of growing. We must learn to trust God, which means we have to put ourselves in positions that require Him to show up. These opportunities should be in conjunction with something God is working on in your life. We shouldn’t put God randomly to the test. However, where He is already working is a place He wants us to see His faithfulness. The more you see His faithfulness the easier it becomes to trust Him and the smaller our doubts become. You should also dig into the questions you struggle with. Every time I have discovered the true answer to a spiritual question I wrestled with it strengthened my faith. Every time. So, lean into your questions and doubts and you will find comfort from God that will renew your hope and cheer.

Prayer

Lord God, help me to see my questions and doubts as opportunities to see You more clearly or know You more deeply. Help me to find hope and cheer in You. Amen.

Quote of the Day

The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt. ― Bertrand Russell

Daily Inspiration: A Mind Aligned 3

1 Peter 1:13

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. (NLT)

Thought for Today

We live in the tension between the now and the not yet. Jesus Christ settled the question of salvation and everlasting life for the children of God, but it is not yet fully realized in our lives. Life is still a struggle and physical death still looms over us. So Peter calls us to put all of our hope in the promise of salvation you received from the cross of Jesus in your baptism. Like waiting for giant inheritance check, you can begin living and dreaming like you have already received it, because it is guaranteed to appear in your account one day. You still have to manage the budget you have, but the promise of it changes everything. You begin to prepare for what life will be like when it arrives. In the same way, prepare your minds for action. God will call you into His great adventure in the midst of the challenges of your everyday life. Begin to think and act on what is yet to come, so that when it does you are well prepared to jump right in. For the day is coming when you will receive your divine inheritance in full!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise You for all of Your promises to me, but chiefly I praise You for the promise of salvation that was won for me at the cross. Help me to prepare my mind to act upon Your great promises in my life. Amen.

God never made a promise that was too good to be true. ― Dwight L. Moody
