DAILY INSPIRATION: JOSHUA, PART 2

Thank you for taking a few important moments to be inspired and grow in your walk with Christ. May these moments take you one step closer to hearing Jesus say to you, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant."

Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. --Joshua 1:7 ESV

Thought for Today

God does not call us to be strong and courageous so that we can take on His enemies. God calls us to be strong and courageous because following His ways is difficult. The world tells us to do things differently than God does, and then actively opposes those who try to live life according to what God says. Therefore, it takes courage to be a man or woman of God. It takes internal strength to raise a family according to God’s principles. You will be challenged. The world will put up roadblocks to your obedience. Being a Christian isn’t for cowards. This is when it becomes especially important to remember what we learned yesterday. God is with us wherever we go and if we look to Him in faith He will overcome the challenges the world throws at us.

Prayer

Lord God, grant me an extra measure of Your strength and courage to be obedient to Your will today. Amen.

Devotional Quote

"The Lord's mercy often rides to the door of our heart upon the black horse of affliction." --Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Quote of the Day

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." --T. S. Eliot

DAILY INSPIRATION: JOSHUA

Thank you for taking a few important moments to be inspired and grow in your walk with Christ. May these moments take you one step closer to hearing Jesus say to you, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant."

Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. --Joshua 1:9 ESV

Thought for Today

What worries you today? Do you have an important meeting? Trouble on the horizon? Challenges with children? Would it help if God went with you when you had to deal with those challenges? Of course it would! And God makes exactly that promise. You can be strong and courageous to face whatever the world throws your way because God will be there with all of His divine wisdom, power, and strength. There is nothing that God cannot overcome, and better yet, when things seem to be going badly God knows how to turn that situation into something good in the end. So as you go today, know that God goes with you, and go with confidence!

Prayer

Blessed Jesus, You have promised to be with me today. Help me to remember that You are with me and give me the confidence to trust in You. Amen.

Devotional Quote

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me." --Jesus Christ

Quote of the Day

"I believe that the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you." --Joyce Meyer

DAILY INSPIRATION: PRACTICES FOR WILDERNESS WANDERINGS, PRAY

Thank you for taking a few important moments to be inspired and grow in your walk with Christ. May these moments take you one step closer to hearing Jesus say to you, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant."

“Now may the Lord’s strength be displayed, just as you have declared: The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion.  In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned them from the time they left Egypt until now.” The Lord replied, “I have forgiven them, as you asked. --Numbers 14:17-20 NIV

Thought for Today

When you are in a time of wilderness wandering and you have realized that God is with you, and remembered your history with God, it is time to talk to Him about what you are struggling with. He knows the pain and frustration that you are dealing with, but He still wants to hear about it from you. He also holds the wisdom you need to get back on track and the resources to make it happen. Throughout the Israelite wanderings they discovered that they needed to start by admitting to God what they had done that had gotten in the way of their relationship with God. Once they had confessed their sin, God responded with compassion and help. Confession is a great place to start. Someone once said that if you look up and God appears far away, He wasn’t the one who moved! Confession moves us back in God’s direction. Once you have admitted your weakness and failings, you can ask for what you need to help you get out of the wilderness. Prayer, God’s desire to commune with us, is often part of His purpose for our wilderness times.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help me to humble myself and fix my eyes and heart on you in the wilderness time. Amen.

Devotional Quote

"The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays." --Søren Kierkegaard

Quote of the Day

"Forgive me my nonsense as I also forgive the nonsense of those who think they talk sense." --Robert Frost
