DAILY INSPIRATION: MOSES, THE LAW AND THE TABERNACLE, PART 2

Thank you for taking a few important moments to be inspired and grow in your walk with Christ. May these moments take you one step closer to hearing Jesus say to you, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant."

Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you. --Exodus 25:8-9 NIV

Thought for Today

God’s desire has always been to dwell among His people. When sin came into the world, God was forced move away from us. He returned to heaven to protect us from being consumed by His holiness. Now that He has brought the Children of Israel out of Egypt, God wants to begin restoring things to the way they should be as a sign for the nations. So, God commissions a special tent for worship, called a tabernacle, to be constructed, so that He may dwell in the midst of His people once more. God would remain amidst His people in a tabernacle or a temple until Jesus of Nazareth would tear in two the curtain that continued to separate God from His people. But that is tomorrow’s story. For today, it is wonderful enough to know that God still has the same desire. He does not want to be the God you worship and serve at a distance. He wants to be the God who lives with you every moment of every day. He will be there today for your ups and your downs and will never leave you nor forsake you. We are so blessed to have a God who loves us that much!

Prayer

Lord God, I marvel to think that You want to share this day with me. Help me to remember that You are with me and reach for Your strength and support when I need You. Amen.

DAILY INSPIRATION: MOSES, THE LAW AND THE TABERNACLE

Thank you for taking a few important moments to be inspired and grow in your walk with Christ. May these moments take you one step closer to hearing Jesus say to you, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant."

Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” --Exodus 19:3-6 NIV

Thought for Today

As God gathers His people around Mount Sinai, He speaks to them of His incredible desire. He calls them to be His “treasured possession.” Think of your most treasured possession. I would be willing to wager that the thing you treasure the most speaks of your heritage. It connects you to family. The Children of Israel would be the people who connect God to His first family, Adam and Eve. When He looked at them they would take Him back to the fond days of walking in the perfect garden with them. They would be “a kingdom of priests.” They would lead the nations of worship of Him. They would be the ones to proclaim His glory throughout the world. What an incredible dream that God laid out for them. Do you know that God has extended that dream to include you? He declares, through the Apostle Peter, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9). You are God’s treasured possession! Let that thought, that dream of God from-of-old, fill you with joy today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that I do not live up to what You say about me, but I rejoice to know that You think of me as Your treasured possession. Help me to live into Your love more fully today.  Amen.

DAILY INSPIRATION: MOSES, THE LORD OUR DELIVERER, PART 5

Thank you for taking a few important moments to be inspired and grow in your walk with Christ. May these moments take you one step closer to hearing Jesus say to you, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant."

As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” --Exodus 14:10, 13-14 NIV

Thought for Today

Now this is the Moses we remember for Sunday School! Pharaoh and his army are thundering down on the people of Israel. The people are terrified. It is a supremely confident Moses who stands up and calls the people to faith and trust. We have watched Moses evolve from a man who wasn’t even a leader in his own family (God called him while he was tending his father-in-law’s sheep), to the leader of a nation. This is how God grows disciples. God calls His servant. He then gives them a task that stretches them. When they faithfully complete the task, He celebrates their faithfulness. Now that Moses is the leader of God’s people he has a new task. His job is now to point the people to God in times of fear and stress. He is to remind them of God’s faithfulness. He is to celebrate God’s victories with His people. Christian leaders have the privilege and responsibility to be the person through whom God works His process in the lives of His people. As you continue reading Moses’ part of God’s story, look for this pattern. Then, think through your role as a leader in your family, neighborhood, work, or church.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to be faithful as You work to grow me, and help me to faithful to being used by You to grow others.
