Luke 15:13

“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.

Thought for Today

The wonder of our free will is that when we use it to serve ourselves, to live according to our own rules, we find out just how unwise we are. We squander what we have or hoard it so that it does no earthly good to anyone. We delve into the darkness of our hearts and find the sensual things we have given ourselves over to do not fill the pit of longing in us, but makes it deeper. Left to our own devices we are a hopeless race. Glory be to God that He sent Jesus to draw us back to our true Father and restore us to the ways that bring life. When He fills the pit of longing with His overflowing love and grace we are more than satisfied.

Lord Jesus, turn my heart back to the Father today and let me find peace and wholeness in your love and grace. Amen.
