Daily Inspiration: Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Life
February 26, 2020, 7:00 AM

**Reminder: Ash Wednesday Services are held at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm**

Genesis 2:7

“…then the LORD God formed the man of the dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”

Thought for Today

Today we celebrate Ash Wednesday. If you go to church today you will hear the pastor say, “Remember you and dust and to dust you shall return.” This may sound morbid and legalistic at first, but it actually points us to the gospel beautifully. Today we prepare ourselves for the journey with Jesus through Lent to the cross. We begin the journey by being reminded of the incredible price of failure. Dust to dust. But we know that Lent ends with Easter, when those formed from the dust of the earth are given eternal life at the cross and empty tomb! Because we know that Jesus succeeded where we had failed we know that for the children of God dust shall live forever! Lent takes us on a journey that starts with dust and ends with life.

Lord Jesus, thank You for taking my sin and death with you to the cross so that I now have eternal life with you. Help me to journey with You this Lenten season that I may know the what my rebellion cost You, and knowing, love You more. Amen.
