Wilson Avenue Bridge Update

The scheduled 16-day total closure of the Wilson Street Bridge will take place as planned beginning 7am on Monday 4/21 running through 3pm on Tuesday, May 6th. Motorists are strongly encouraged to find alternate routes well in advance of travel so traffic congestion near the bridge and along Routes 31 and 25 are minimized. Please allow for any delays when planning travel during the 16 day closure.  While traffic signals on Fabyan Parkway will be adjusted, traffic delays are still expected. 

Traffic will be monitored closely, but after extensive discussion by City Staff and an analysis of a similar closure in February of 2007, it was determined that putting police officers at intersections will not help traffic flows along Fabyan parkway during this closure. The City apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this closure will cause. 

Once this closure is complete, it is anticipated that the bridge will have reached substantial completion. Traffic will return to its normal configuration and much of the parking will return to the bridge. Some bridge work will continue however, and some parking spaces will be occupied by bridge construction equipment as the finishing touches are put into place on the bridge deck.
