She teaches small groups during the day to reinforce learning. Teri graduated from Iowa State University where she met her husband Jim. Teri also received a Reading Specialist degree from Concordia University Chicago. Teri and Jim's oldest son Nick attends Iowa State University. Teri and Jim have two younger sons, Charlie who is attending Waubonsee and Matt who attends Batavia High School. The Pohorskys are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Teri’s favorite part of teaching at Immanuel is when she can see a student develop into a reader. Teri says, "I know that God is working when they look up and say, 'I can read this Mrs. Pohorsky!'"
