Glenn attended Lutheran schools for his entire education, with the exception of Kindergarten. He attended Concordia College, River Forest, and received a bachelor’s of arts in elementary education with an emphasis in science and math. He received his Master’s from Concordia in Educational Administration. He has served at Chapel School, Bronxville, New York (one year as an intern); Bethany, Naperville, Illinois (fourteen years); St. Paul, Rochelle, Illinois (nine years); Trinity, Franktown, Colorado (six years); and is now in his tenth year of serving at Immanuel, Batavia. His wife, Connie, is a preschool teacher at St. Paul, Aurora, Illinois. They have four grown children, Amy, Julie, Lisa, and Matthew, all living in locations out west. Glenn serves as treasurer of the N.I.D. Administrators’ Conference and is involved at Immanuel as a ministry director, in the Christus Choir, the Immanuel School Committee, Trustees, SALT, and the Personnel Committee.

Sharon Dalpini joined the staff of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in 1993. She began her ministry at Immanuel as the first Kindergarten teacher, a position she held for eight years, as well as church music director, adult and children's choir director, and organist.

As the school continued to grow, she moved from her postion as Kindergarten teacher into her current role as physical education teacher and music education teacher. Sharon also serves as the school athletic director and one of the girls' basketball coaches.

Kari Larsen - Director of Youth Ministries

*Kari served as intern for one year at Immanuel prior to taking the Call as Director of Youth Ministry.  

Kari Larsen is the full time director of youth ministry at Immanuel. She graduated from Concordia University-Chicago in 2005 and received a Director of Christian Education degree with an emphasis in youth ministry. As the director of youth ministry she is responsible for the middle school and high school youth programming. She appreciates the team ministry atmosphere and is truly blessed to serve such an amazing and caring congregation.

Mary is the afternoon third grade teacher; she teaches science, social studies, art, computers, handwriting, and  religion. She also co-directs all the Children's Ministries at Immanuel--Sunday School, Hands Alive! Children's Puppet Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and Preconfirmation. Through her ministry at Immanuel she enjoys teaching children and letting them know how important they are to her, but most importantly how important they are to Jesus and how much He loves them. Immanuel is a great place to learn about Jesus and to share that love of Jesus with others.

Judy grew up in Minnesota where she attended Lutheran school through eighth grade. She graduated from Alexandria Technical Institute in Minnesota with a secretarial certificate. She has worked at Immanuel since 2005 and is co-chair of the Market Day program.

Heidi has lived in Batavia for over 13 years with her husband and two sons. They became members of Immanuel and their sons attended ILS from Together With Jesus through eighth grade. Heidi attended Lutheran schools through high school and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BS in Business Education. She worked in the business environment for 13 years as an administrative assistant before moving to Batavia. She has worked as one of Immanuel's school secretaries for over six years. She is also co-chairperson of Immanuel's Manna program. She loves reading, bicycling, visiting with friends, and attending her children's school functions.

Penny has been involved with Lutheran schools since the age of five. Her entire education, including her post-graduate work, has been in Lutheran schools. This is the beginning of her eighth year at Immanuel. Besides teaching fifth grade, she helps with Alien Nation (middle school youth Bible study/fellowship), Hands Alive! Children's Puppet Ministry, Vacation Bible School, coordinates the Grade 3-5 Book Club, and coaches cheerleading. Barb Iteen, currently in her fourteenth year at Immanuel, teaches sixth through eighth grade social studies and math. She is also the eighth grade homeroom teacher. Barb graduated from Central Michigan University, took several graduate courses from Michigan State University, and received her colloquy from Concordia University. She and her husband Gary sing in the Christus Choir at Immanuel. Her daughter, Kit Immel, serves as an aide for fourth and fifth grades and Kindergarten, and her two grandchildren are in Kindergarten and third grade at ILS.

Julie McFarland is a fulltime teacher at Immanuel. She teaches P.E., middle school math, 6th grade art, and serves as a middle school resource teacher. Her undergraduate degree was earned at Northern Illinois University and her graduate coursework was completed at Concordia University. Julie enjoys teaching children of all ages. She loves to see the sense of pride in students when they know that they are doing their best. She believes that all children are gifts from God and they all deserve to learn according to their individual learning style.

Lynne Schefke is contracted through Music Education Services. She teaches individual and group band at Immanuel and other Fox Valley area private and parochial schools. Lynne also teaches individual band lessons during the summer at Immanuel.

Charlotte Bogda - Orchestra Director

Charlotte Bogda has enjoyed a very active performing career in the Chicago area serving in leadership positions with many local orchestras. She is currently  Concertmaster of the West Suburban Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, and Festival Orchestra. In addition to classical orchestra music, Ms. Bogda also plays strolling violin with such bands as Franz Benteler, Stanley Paul, and Michael Lerich.

Charlotte has also enjoyed a full career teaching Orchestra for the past 37 years. Recently retired from Wheaton District 200, she now teaches privately, and is currently Immanuel’s Orchestra Director.
